Speedy Motors Service, or SMS for the intimate, is one of Bahrain’s oldest taxi companies, with over 40 years of existence. Founded in 1974 by Sheik Khalid bin Mohamed Al-Khalifa, SMS was a sting in Bahrain: first radio taxi, the first company to have adopted the races at the meter, it is truly an institution of the Kingdom. Many Bahrain only swear by SMS. The entire old car fleet has been replaced by the large Ford Flex, ideal for families. The company has developed numerous partnerships with Manama hotels; the concierge at your hotel can therefore book a taxi from that company at (sometimes) preferential rates. SMS is also available at Europcar if you want to rent a car. You can also ask for a car with driver. A smartphone application is available, which allows you to book online and consult the rates.
